TATHS Heritage Awards may be just right for you. In 2025 we awarded £4000 to a trainee wooden boat builder and £1000 to someone commencing in stained glass restoration.
Awards for 2026 will be decided in July 2026 and applications can be made until 30 June 2026. Don’t delay go now to the TATHS Website www.taths.org.uk under the heading ‘The Society’ and ‘Awards and Grants’ and download an Application Form.
TATHS have decided to offer a yearly sum of £5000 to assist young people who are pursuing a career in trades that predominantly use hand tools and follow traditional practices. The money will be available in the form of a grant which may be of the full £5000 or two or more smaller sums. The grant will be paid in 3 amounts with 40% on approval of the application, 30% after 6 months and 30% after 12 months.
To qualify for a Grant you must:
Be a student starting a career at a recognised school, college or university or an apprentice or employed by a crafts or trades person or have commenced working as a crafts or trades person in the two years prior to the application.
Be training for or engaged in any craft or trade which uses hand tools.
Be prepared to provide a short article explaining how the grant has helped you for publication in the TATHS website and Journal.
