Applications for the Grants for 2025 were requested by a deadline of 30 June 2025 with decisions to be made by the end of July 2025. At the closing date we had received 7 applications from an age range of 24 to 70 and covering Stonemasonry, Carpentry, Blacksmithing, Stained Glass Work and Wooden Boat Building. All the applications were well put together and most applicants showed a high level of skill and enthusiasm in their chosen career.
The applications were reviewed by the Trustees, President and Vice Presidents and it was decided to make two Grants this year.
A Grant of £4000.00 was awarded to Hannah Lovett who is commencing a career in wooden boat building. At the time of her application Hannah was near the end of a course at the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis. Now having successfully completed the course, Hannah, has commenced employment with an established firm of boat builders in Norfolk. It is also proposed to offer Hannah some of the duplicated caulking irons and other boat building tools held at the TATHS Tool Museum at Amberley.

A Grant of £1000.00 was awarded to Ellen Hunt who is commencing a career in Stained Glass Conservation Work. Ellen is training as a Stained Glass Conservator and craftsperson at Recclesia Stained Glass in Manchester, following her participation in Historic England’s Heritage Skills Building Programme. The Grant will help Ellen attend important courses to gain experience in various aspects of stained glass conservation.

Both successful applicants have promised to provide a short article for a future edition of T & T in a years time when they can report on how helpful the Grant was to them. An appropriate Certificate has been issued to confirm the Grant and two years Honorary Membership of TATHS has been awarded.
The next Grants will be considered in July 2026 and applications can be made any time until 30 June 2026. See the Award and Grant section under the Society tab for full details.
