A query from Roy Forward, about a photograph he received from a friend in France, which he took at a village open day.
The hammer was of similar shape & labelled, in french, as a road menders hammer ( presumably pre macadam).
The head in the photographs weighs 6lbs 12oz. (Roy has another one which weighs 16lbs).
The rectangular striking face is slightly concave across the shortest edge for the whole length.
What was the hammer used for?
