An 18th Century Hand Saw?

Scott Essen has  found an old hand saw that has no makers mark on it that he can see,

saw 1024x768The saw has  two saw medallions, one having King George the 3rd and the second the Royal coat of arms and the date 1788. The saw has a rusted blade which Scott doubts is the original.

Scott cannot find any  information on the internet and would love to find out if this saw really dates back to that period.
