Herewith photos of an oddity (to me anyway) that has emerged. An unusual Ward and Payne chisel. Has mark on both sides of iron. Those who’ve handled it believe it is professionally modified by Ward and Payne.

• chisel 12 ins long,
• originally a 2.5 inch flat firmer chisel.
• modified by forging sharp end to an almost 180 degree half-circle and cutting slot
Any ideas on what this was used for are welcome.
