Martin Ashford sent in this tool which was amongst woodworking tools owned by his grandfather. Can anyone help by identifying what it was used for?
It looks as though it could cut a groove where a plough plane could not reach but would be difficult to regulate the depth. Feb 2025 Christopher Smith has advised that this is a 'Pavey Weeder' used to clean between flagstones and slabs. Googling that term brought up an identical tool by Sorby. (Webmaster)
