Hugh Thompson has raised an interesting question about a packet of screws.
At first sight a box of Nettlefolds screws; one gross 2" no 8 roundhead japanned. On closer inspection, its actually a brown paper wrapping - not a box - with the screws placed in layers, point-to-head.
We guess there would have been some former to assist in the assembly. Does anyone know when they stopped packaging in this manner?
Christopher Proudfoot has suggested that this is a wartime package resulting from a shortage of cardboard, which seems plausible.
